Summer Reading: The Best Beach or Not Book

Nora Goes Off Script

By Annabel Monaghan

Nora Goes Off Script was just what I needed to mentally go on vacation.

If you are looking for a romantic summer escape, this sweet and well written book may be the one for you. Nora is a screenwriter of sappy romantic movies (think Hallmark channel) and yet her own romantic life has not produced a happy ending. When one of her scripts gets picked up and producers decide to film it in her 100-year-old home, she ends up with the “sexiest man of the year” star of the movie wanting to crash at her house and live like a local. I won’t give away too much, but this love story that involves adults, kids and the complications of real-life is warm and smart. It would be easy to see this movie book become a real movie and I know exactly who I would want to see in it (hint… St. Louis native, star of Mad Men, perfect in my mind).

I boarded a two and a half hour flight with this book in hand and I was lost in the land of Nora until touchdown. Yes, it was so much fun, I devoured the entire thing in one sitting. Thank you Annabel Monaghan for such a great diversion.
